A visit from Julia and the girls

After a long and weary month of sickness, we had a much needed break. Thanks for all of your encouraging words! I have not had much time to comment on blogs, but I have appreciated the empathy and kindness you have shared with me. It sounds like a lot of people have been in the same boat we have been in with sickness. Hopefully, spring will arrive soon and bring health and sunshine!

Ava got to spend last week with Grandma Ruby and her cousins while I stayed home with Pierson who had pink eye. On Friday, Ava travelled back to Abilene with Julia and her girls for a long weekend of A-town fun! Here is the weekend in pictures:

I always love spending time with Jules. She is one of those rare friends who knows me so well that we can always just pick up where we left off with no explanations. We met at ACU orientation the summer before our Freshman year at ACU which was almost 13 years ago! I am thankful for such a true friend, and I have enjoyed watching our girls become friends as well. Ava loves to play with Emma, and I'm sure in a year or so, Pierson will love to follow Addie around!

"But in friendship, we think we have chosen our peers. In reality, a few years difference in the dates of our birth, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another, posting to regiments, the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting...any of these changes might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are strictly speaking, no chances. A secret Master of Ceremonies has been at work in Christ, who said to the disciples, 'You have not chosen me but I have chosen you," can truly say to every group of Christian friends, "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you for one another.'"
