A visit from Julia and the girls

After a long and weary month of sickness, we had a much needed break. Thanks for all of your encouraging words! I have not had much time to comment on blogs, but I have appreciated the empathy and kindness you have shared with me. It sounds like a lot of people have been in the same boat we have been in with sickness. Hopefully, spring will arrive soon and bring health and sunshine!

Ava got to spend last week with Grandma Ruby and her cousins while I stayed home with Pierson who had pink eye. On Friday, Ava travelled back to Abilene with Julia and her girls for a long weekend of A-town fun! Here is the weekend in pictures:

I always love spending time with Jules. She is one of those rare friends who knows me so well that we can always just pick up where we left off with no explanations. We met at ACU orientation the summer before our Freshman year at ACU which was almost 13 years ago! I am thankful for such a true friend, and I have enjoyed watching our girls become friends as well. Ava loves to play with Emma, and I'm sure in a year or so, Pierson will love to follow Addie around!

"But in friendship, we think we have chosen our peers. In reality, a few years difference in the dates of our birth, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another, posting to regiments, the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting...any of these changes might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are strictly speaking, no chances. A secret Master of Ceremonies has been at work in Christ, who said to the disciples, 'You have not chosen me but I have chosen you," can truly say to every group of Christian friends, "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you for one another.'" C.S. Lewis

I love these pictures! It is so fun that your kids are getting to be such great friends! Tell Julia I said Hi when you talk to her again.

Sorry about your month of sickness. I could relate to so many of the things you said in your last post.

Love to you!

I'm so glad Julia and her kids were able to come spend the weekend with you and yours. Ava and Emma look so old in the picture of them in the kitchen with their hands in their pockets! It's so fun that they get to grow up being friends too.

Summer Pierson? The one from Camp Blue Haven long ago? I wasn't for sure then I noticed your son's name was Pierson! I knew it had to be you! I was just blog-hopping and came across your blog! (I joined the 'world of blog' several months ago!) Small world! I remember you and ? (can't remember her name? Do you still keep in touch with her?) were up at CBH helping during the summer of 93? or 92? And I didn't realize you went to ACU . . or maybe I did, I just don't remember! I guess I was leaving when you were coming in! Anyway, good to see pictures of you and your sweet family! Your children are precious!

It was SO good to hear from you, Summer!! Oh, yeah . . . Linda Petty was her name! I could not remember her name for the life of me! Did she ever go back to CBH? Do you still keep in touch with her? I didn't realize you were a counselor in '97 and in '99!! WOW!! What an awesome experience! We were at the reunion in '97 up at CBH and again in '03 in Amarillo (I guess it was more of a tribute to Vance & Aimee) but were unable to go to this last one in May of this past year. Did you go? We both really wanted to go but our little Miss Briley was about ready to make her debut!! That's SO funny about finding that tape! Knowing me & how much I loved (still love) 80's music, I'm sure there had to have been some of that on there! =) Oh, I wish I had a better memory about things from long ago! I am SO glad to have reconnected with you after all these years! You are still the same, beautiful Summer that you always were and you have such a beautiful family! God has definitely blessed you . . . with many more blessings to come, I'm sure!

I have seen this blog several times but not left a comment yet - I'm going from bad to worse as a blogger! Anyway, its been a while since we were there & we miss you guys so much already. What a blessing your friendship has been to me lo these many years. (What does "lo" mean anyway? Just came to my mind so I wrote it, but seriously, what is that?!?). Love you so much & look forward to seeing you soon!
